Resources for practices and businesses
The services and references a UK practice or business uses every day, in one place. Mini Accounts prepares the figures these services ask for; you file through the service itself.

▶ This is how to set up an accountancy practice — three minutes, start to finish: register, sign in, choose where the files live and set the password, the letterhead and the staff, and the client register open at the end.
HMRC — PAYE, VAT, self assessment and corporation tax
PAYE for employers —
running payroll, paying HMRC and reporting in real time. Mini Accounts works out each run and gives you the FPS
figures per employee and the facts for the EPS; it does not submit them.
Basic PAYE Tools —
HMRC’s free software for sending the FPS and EPS. The figures Mini Accounts gives you for each run are entered here,
or in your own RTI software, which files them.
Rates and thresholds for employers 2026 to 2027 —
the PAYE bands, National Insurance thresholds, student loan thresholds and statutory payment rates the payroll
applies, as HMRC published them.
VAT record keeping —
HMRC’s requirements for VAT records, schemes and Making Tax Digital. Mini Accounts computes the nine-box figures
with the transactions behind each box; it is not recognised by HMRC for Making Tax Digital, and you file through
software that is, or through HMRC’s services where they allow.
Self assessment —
the return, the payments on account and the dates. Mini Accounts prepares the self assessment computation for a sole
trader or partner, with Class 4 National Insurance and the payments on account, and lists the dates on the
calendar.
Corporation tax —
the CT600, the payment and the dates. Mini Accounts prepares the corporation tax computation with the capital
allowances and marginal relief, and puts the payment and return dates on the calendar.
HMRC online services —
the sign-in for self assessment, corporation tax, PAYE and VAT.
Companies House and The Pensions Regulator
Companies House —
annual accounts and confirmation statements. Mini Accounts prepares a limited company’s accounts in the format
Companies House expects, and the compliance calendar tracks the accounts and confirmation statement dates per
client. It does not file iXBRL accounts.
The Pensions Regulator —
automatic enrolment duties, the declaration of compliance and re-enrolment. Mini Accounts works out the pension
contributions on each pay run and puts the re-declaration date on the calendar; the file a pension provider takes is
not produced.
The professional bodies
ICAEW, ACCA and AAT — the bodies a UK practice belongs to, with their guidance on practice assurance, anti-money-laundering supervision and client due diligence. Mini Accounts dates each client’s identity check on the client record and keeps the engagement letter date beside it. Mini Accounts is not connected with, or endorsed by, any professional body; its maker is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Starting from what you have now
Nothing is migrated, and nothing is thrown away: your existing files stay where they are. Bring last year’s closing balances in by typing them or from a trial balance saved as CSV, add the bank accounts, and start with this period’s bank statements as PDF or CSV. Mini Accounts is an accounts preparation tool for the practitioner, not a general ledger a business keys into all year: where Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent hold a business’s live books, it takes what a client actually gives their accountant — bank statements, often as PDFs — and turns them into the coded ledger, the accounts, the VAT figures and the tax computation, with the client’s payroll run in the same books.
Mini Accounts is not connected with, or endorsed by, any of the bodies linked above. Their names and services are theirs; see the Disclaimer.
